If it builds, installs, and runs properly I do this:mv somepackage.spec mod.somepackage.specmv orig.somepackage.spec somepackage.specdiff -Naur somepackage.spec mod.somepackage.spec > somepackage.spec.patchI then email the maintainers of the particular package describe the problem and If it fails due to the "unpackaged files" or the "glob" or whatever error I make a copy of the original somepackage.spec file, say, orig.somepackage.spec.   2. The configure script doesn't know or care about this rpm-specific distinction.
